Welcome to

Castlefreke Trails

The trails will take you through mixed woodland habitats, lakeside and Special Areas of Conservation, with many interesting sites of natural, historical and archaeological heritage en route. Enjoy, too, the views of the sand dunes and the Atlantic Ocean. The Rathbarry–Kilkeran Loop, which is 8km in length, has a shorter 6km option, and it also includes three shorter loops, so there is something here to satisfy all abilities and ages.

Castlefreke Trails is an initiative of Castlefreke Our Woods Our Walks. It is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development through the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme. We acknowledge the kind support of West Cork Development Partnership, Coillte, Cork County Council, National Parks and Wildlife Service and the private landowners along the trails.
